Established in 2014, Wooptix is the first spin-off of the University of La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain), and has developed proprietary disruptive technology in the area of Lightfield Imaging and Computational Photography.

Wooptix was established in 2014 to capitalize the R&D efforts of a group of scientists and engineers working in Computational Imaging at the Astrophysics Department of the University of La Laguna, Tenerife, for more than twenty years.

The members of this team are experts in Adaptive Optics and the emerging field of Lightfield Imaging, which consists in capturing all the information of a scene (not only the intensity of the light at each point but also the direction of the rays) and process it afterwards.

Wooptix’s patented technology is ahead of the state of the art in this area, as they are capable of capturing the Lightfield using inexpensive conventional image sensors versus alternative competing solutions that rely on more expensive optical equipment.

Wooptix is currently a leader in semiconductor metrology through wavefront phase, offering high-resolution and high-speed throughput solutions for wafer inspection. Alongside its multidisciplinary team, Wooptix aims to disrupt the metrology inspection industry, with sub-nanometric resolution, and the ability to capture more than 16 million data points of the silicon wafer.

The company provides versatile tools for working with bonded, blank and patterned wafers of 300 and 200mm in size. Together with their resistance to vibrations and ease of adapting to the user’s needs, they are valuable systems for measuring the wafer shape and nanotopography in a single image.

Wooptix is headquartered in Tenerife, Madrid (Spain), and San Francisco (USA)

Bullnet Capital first invested in Wooptix in June 2016 and has continued supporting the project ever since.
